Machine Shop Estimator

The Machine Shop Estimator will be responsible for preparing accurate and timely cost estimates for machined components and assemblies. This role requires strong technical knowledge of machining processes, materials, and tooling, along with the ability to read blueprints and work closely with production, engineering, and sales teams.

Position Overview:
The Machine Shop Estimator will be responsible for preparing accurate and timely cost estimates for machined components and assemblies. This role requires strong technical knowledge of machining processes, materials, and tooling, along with the ability to read blueprints and work closely with production, engineering, and sales teams.

Key Responsibilities:

• Review RFQs, blueprints, CAD models, and technical specifications.
• Determine machining processes, materials, tooling, and labor requirements.
• Calculate cycle times, machine hours, and setup times.
• Prepare detailed cost estimates, including materials, labor, outside services, and overhead.
• Collaborate with production and engineering teams to verify feasibility and optimize processes.
• Prepare and submit accurate quotes within required deadlines.
• Maintain estimating database with updated material, labor, and vendor costs.
• Communicate with vendors and subcontractors for pricing on materials and services.
• Support sales team with technical input during customer discussions.

Qualifications:

• Strong knowledge of CNC machining, turning, milling, and fabrication processes.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and GD&T.
• Familiarity with Mastercam and SolidWorks is a plus.
• Strong math and analytical skills.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Detail-oriented and able to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Experience:

• Experience with ERP system and quoting software.
• Background in Machine Shop Manufacturing.
• Knowledge of lean manufacturing and cost reduction practices.
